What motivates you to assist others in their learning, share your knowledge, etc.?
The only thing that doesn’t decrease after you share it with others is knowledge. In fact helping others learn thing makes others capable enough to help me in future! It is  a win win situation!

Princeton is known to be rigorous and often competitive, how might a culture of intellectual kindness and generosity be nurtured and sustained in this context?
Creating a culture learning and research a thing to be enjoyed in it of itself rather than a stepping stone for material things would go a long way. People tend to get selfish over material things, but learning is not a material thing! So a culture that doesn’t use learning a carrot for wealth, prestige would naturally create intellectual kindness!
