Bio/Description

Priya is a Master of Divinity student at Princeton Theological Seminary. She is interested in how religious hybridity and transculturation affect religious experiences, theologies, and concepts of belonging. Prior to Princeton, Priya worked as a 7th-grade English/Language Arts teacher in Nashville, TN. She earned her BA in Public Policy at UNC Chapel Hill, minored in Global Health, and completed a certificate in Prison Studies at Duke Divinity. In addition to teaching World Religions at East Jersey State Prison and Garden State Youth Correctional Facility last year and tutoring this summer and school year with PTI, she serves as a chaplain intern with the New Jersey Department of Corrections. She hopes to explore how pedagogies within philosophical/religious education can impact students' identities, worldviews, and belonging.
