Shirley comes to us from Queen Mary University, London, where she was Associate Professor of Psychology in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences. She was also the department's Director of Teaching and Learning, served as SBCS Deputy Director of Education and sat on the SBCS Teaching and Learning Committee. Other instructorships include Yale, Pace, and Syracuse University, London. She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Yale University. Outside of the classroom she is a bereavement therapist and a health and science writer.
