Bio/Description

Hello! My name is Natalie, and I am a fifth-year PhD candidate in Musicology. My research investigates music’s role in guiding attention in multimedia, sitting at the intersection of music theory, music cognition, and media studies. While at Princeton, I've worked with programs across campus to explore various interests and develop skills in research, teaching, administration, and service.

As someone who entered the PhD directly from my undergraduate degrees and as the first in my family to pursue a doctoral degree, I have learned so much from formal and informal mentors and continue to discover more every day. The most challenging part of my experience navigating the academic landscape has been learning about myself and developing strategies to manage my anxiety, imposter stress, and perfectionistic tendencies. I am passionate about sharing these experiences and the insights I’ve gained along the way with my fellow graduate students.

As a coach, I view my role as being a supportive and encouraging thinking partner, aiming to foster reflective dialogues in which we can contemplate what success and well-being means for you. My goal is that you leave our discussions feeling affirmed, supported, and with a clear idea of strategies and next steps you could take. I am excited to meet with you and be a thinking partner as we go through graduate school together.
