Video Style Description What is needed to produce this video?

Office Recording (DIY)

This type of video allows faculty the opportunity to create an online course from their personal office environment with the use of a laptop and webcam.

  • A quiet, well-lit, room or office
  • Laptop with webcam
  • Presentation slides
  • Recording software (i.e. Camtasia)

Studio Recording

Studio recordings allow for complete control over sound, lighting, and editing. Studio recording options:

  • Interview/discussions with two or more people
  • Roundtable discussions with faculty and students
  • Lecture in front of a green screen with changing backgrounds
  • Lecture accompanied by a Smartboard monitor and presentation slides
  • Additional customized options are also available.

Following a meeting to discuss the course and use of the studio you will need to come to the studio prepared with all lecture materials.

On­ Location Recording

This type of video is recorded on location, outside of a controlled studio environment.

Various equipment (lights, cameras, microphones) will be set-up prior to the recording. Professional video staff will run this equipment.

Classroom Recording

The lecture is recorded in a classroom environment. Students or audience may be included.

  • Some classrooms have recording equipment installed.
  • Rooms without equipment will require a location camera setup which is available through The McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning.

Online Recordings

Skype, Google Hangouts, and web conferences are all available for  recording

Online recordings can be used in a studio, office or room with an internet connection.

Hybrid Recording

This option allows for flexibility to record in multiple settings (studio, location, classroom, and online)
