Professor Peter Singer’s MOOC, "Effective Altruism,” Open for Enrollment

June 17, 2015

Peter Singer’s new course explores the philosophical underpinnings of effective altruism as well as how people can put those ideas into practice. He has invited a number of remarkable guests to talk about their work and ideas, including: Raymond Offenheiser, president of Oxfam America; Dean Karlan, professor of economics at Yale and president of Innovations for Poverty Action; and Elie Hassenfeld, the co-founder of GiveWell. Students will have the opportunity to discuss course topics with several guest moderators, and also apply the ideas of effective altruism by participating in a Giving Game.
