June 17, 2015 Peter Singer’s new course explores the philosophical underpinnings of effective altruism as well as how people can put those ideas into practice. He has invited a number of remarkable guests to talk about their work and ideas, including: Raymond Offenheiser, president of Oxfam America; Dean Karlan, professor of economics at Yale and president of Innovations for Poverty Action; and Elie Hassenfeld, the co-founder of GiveWell. Students will have the opportunity to discuss course topics with several guest moderators, and also apply the ideas of effective altruism by participating in a Giving Game. https://www.coursera.org/learn/altruism
