Summer Internships

We are pleased to announce that applications for PTI's Summer 2024 internships are now open! The deadline to apply is March 8, 2024!

Humanities Opportunities
The Princeton University Aspiring Scholars and Professionals (ASAP) program welcomes applicants for its summer internship cohort program beginning in June 2024. The ASAP program, housed in the Emma Bloomberg Center for Access & Opportunity (EBCAO), introduces undergraduate students to careers in higher education in the humanities (i.e., history), social sciences (i.e., sociology), communications, and education. The program begins each year with a summer institute that includes instruction in professional development and research methods each week, and an internship placement with a Princeton professor or staff member where students have the opportunity to practice the skills they are learning.

STEM Opportunities
Have you considered a major or career in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field? Summer research internships can be great places to explore new topics, learn new skills, and build your academic network. Since 2017, PTI has partnered with Princeton faculty to offer intensive paid summer internships for justice-impacted undergraduate students interested in exploring one or more STEM fields.

This summer, we are offering two STEM internship opportunities to undergraduates from two- and four-year institutions:

  1. Coding Foundations of Research is designed for undergraduates excited to increase their familiarity with computers and includes intensive training in computer literacy and coding. Students will apply their new coding skills to analyze scientific data and learn about computer-based research in a variety of STEM and social science fields. Direct questions to Chris Etienne, PTI's Student Engagement Coordinator, at [email protected].
  2. Computational Biology Research: Gateway to STEM helps students gain research experience in computational biology, learn the principles of scientific thinking, and understand research scholarship. Each student will work with a faculty mentor and their associated research group. Direct questions to Dr. Bridgett vonHoldt, Associate Professor of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, at [email protected].

Both STEM internships are 9 weeks long (June 3-August 2, 2024) and require full-time participation. Interns will receive a stipend of $600 per week, on-campus housing and meals (or additional funds to defray off-campus housing and transportation costs), and ongoing support through community groups and social events. Interns have free access to Princeton University's considerable library, computing resources, gym, and other resources.
