Event Description

The dissertation is known as the capstone of doctoral education. Planning and writing one, however, is often a confusing, stressful, and solitary endeavor. If you are a graduate student in the Social Sciences or Humanities preparing to start your dissertation this academic year, join a learning cohort offered by The McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning titled Planning the Dissertation.

We’ll meet 6 times in-person on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5pm (beginning the week of 11/3/22 and ending on 12/15/22) to unpack the hidden curriculum of the dissertation process; explore the transition from coursework to research; discuss choosing advisors and committee members; think through developing a prospectus; learn tools for effective project management; and much more. Come join us!
