Sign-Up Sheet

Access the sign-up sheet to put yourself on the schedule. Please only sign up for slots at the facility/ies for which you are on the approved tutoring checklist(s), which you will find in the facility folders.

Important Reminders

Do NOT take any electronic devices into the facility with you (if you have taken a ride-share or taxi to the facility, please prepare to leave these items in a locker at the front of the facility). That includes cell phones, smartwatches, FitBits, radios, cameras, and any computerized devices.

Do not wear the following things (per the NJDOC's dress code):

  • Orange, khaki, and related colors
  • Underwire bras or other clothing that contains significant metal
  • Shorts, skirts, dresses, or any clothing that rises above the ankle
  • Open-toed or steel-toed shoes
  • Tight or transparent clothing
  • Tank tops or sleeveless shirts
  • Hooded shirts of any kind
  • Military-style clothing (including fatigues and camouflage)
  • Clothing with messages about alcohol, drugs, illegal or violent behavior, or politics
  • Hats or headgear, unless they are religiously oriented (Please note, you are subject to search from a same-gendered officer if wearing a religious head covering.)

Avoid taking in any of the following items:

  • More than 1 key (usually for a vehicle)
  • Water in reusable bottles
  • Unapproved medications or medical treatments (like inhalers)
  • Cash or credit cards

If you expect to need medical accommodations for either a temporary or permanent condition, please contact Tara immediately to complete the necessary ADA accommodations paperwork. This is especially true if you have metal implants in your body that will set off the metal detector. Medications and devices/supports like insulin pumps, inhalers, canes or walkers, and pacemakers are permitted with prior authorization.

What to Take with You

  • Don't forget your government-issued photo ID (typically a driver's license, non-driver's ID, or passport)! The name on your ID must match your name as it is listed on the materials checklist. If you notice a discrepancy, please contact Tara immediately. University and/or employer IDs are not acceptable forms of identification.
  • Always carry a copy of the signed tutoring materials checklist with you! If you notice your name is not on it, you will not be able to enter the facility; please contact Tara if this is the case.
  • Bring 2-3 copies of the attendance sheet for each tutoring session. Updated sheets are placed weekly in facility folders.
  • Only take materials listed on the signed materials checklist, and make sure they are in the appropriately sized clear plastic tote! (If you need a tote bag, please contact your site coordinator or Tara.) The following materials are especially useful: writing utensils (only of the approved sizes and types), legal pads or other writing paper (not in a wire-bound notebook), syllabi and/or assignment sheets for classes in which tutees are enrolled, and 1-2 sealed 20-oz bottles of water. You may also take in texts for the classes students are taking.

Post-Tutoring Report

Please submit a post-tutoring report as soon as possible after each tutoring session. Here are some tips and guidelines for submitting effective reports:

  • Submit your report within 24 hours of the tutoring session.
  • One tutor from each session should submit a completed attendance sheet.
  • Be detailed! Include the names of all students with whom you worked and the specific activities on which you worked.
  • If you are having trouble remembering students' names, refer to the attendance sheet.

Requesting Materials

Please use this form to request textbooks or other materials you think will help you tutor more effectively. We will do our best to accommodate everyone's needs! (Note: You do not need to submit this form if you need a clear tote bag containing pens, pencils, notebooks, etc. For that, please email Tara.)
