Recent PhDs Recent PhDs interested in teaching and advising community college students are encouraged to apply to the Teaching Transfer Initiative. The Teaching Transfer Initiative is an academic outreach program led by Princeton University in partnership with local community colleges designed to encourage community college students to explore and transfer to four-year institutions. Each year, Princeton hires and trains recent PhDs as Teaching Transfer Associates (TTAs) to teach both regular community college courses as well as one Princeton accredited course, with the potential to be reappointed twice, for a total of three years. Associates offer advising, mentoring, and transfer information to students to serve the program’s broader goal of increasing the number of transfer students to four-year universities or colleges.
