Orientation for First-Time AIs Takes Place January 30-31

Jan. 16, 2014

Approximately 125 graduate students, from 27 different departments, will participate in the McGraw Center's spring orientation program.  This group represents all divisions of the college.  Graduate student teachers minted during our spring orientation program will join approximately 325 graduate students and post docs who participated in our fall training.

The  events and workshops  that make up AI Orientation offer participating graduate students opportunities to:

  • make connections with other AIs in their discipline and across the university
  • gather ideas to energize their development as teachers
  • dispel some of the common anxieties about the first days of teaching
  • practice teaching techniques before stepping into the classroom

Participation in AI Orientation also fulfills a central requirement in the Teaching Transcript, a program designed to enhance and document the professional development of graduate students as teachers.
