Departmental Visits

Department Visits and Faculty Discussions

McGraw Center teaching and learning experts welcome the opportunity to visit your department to discuss teaching topics of special interest to you and your colleagues, and to provide an overview of the Center’s wide range of teaching resources. We are available to join a regularly scheduled faculty meeting or a lunch discussion in your department. We also invite departments to hold a faculty meeting in the new McGraw Teaching Lab in the Frist Campus Center, where you can learn about innovative teaching technologies and explore the possibilities for use in your classrooms or online. Topics that faculty may find useful to discuss with us include:

  • creating meaningful course goals and designing effective assignments
  • developing criteria for evaluating student work, including class participation and group projects
  • designing strategies for interactive and inclusive teaching in large and small classes
  • using digital tools to enhance engagement in the classroom and online
  • creating supplemental resources to improve access and retention, or to increase student engagement and interest
  • developing open online courses to expand your classroom and enrich your students’ experience while promoting the profile and the mission of your department
